Learn To Play Electric Guitar Before It's Too Late

We have all done it: jamming on those power chords, sliding across the living room floor in our underwear....oh, wait, that was a movie and that was an air guitar! If you like music you have probably, maybe even secretly, wanted to have your own electric guitar solo in front of a pack crowd. Well, what are you waiting for. It doesn't matter if you are beginner and know nothing or a novice who can play scales, you can learn to play the electric guitar. It is so much
fun and you will be surprised how good you can get.

Tip: An excellent place for beginners or players with some advanced abilities to learn online is this Jamorama course. They offer a free AND paid course. It's pretty cool and pretty popular. At the very least you should take advantage of the free stuff.

What is an 'electric guitar'?

An electric guitar uses something called pickups to take the vibrations from the chords, which are usually made of steel or nickel, and transforms it into sound. The sound is made louder and more audible by using an amplifier.

Who is Les Paul?

He is pretty much universaly considered the pioneer of the electric guitar. To translated that for you: he pretty much made the Rock N Roll sound possible. I would say that was pretty important.

Here are some of the more well known electric guitar companies you might come across when you purchase your guitar:

Paul Reed Smith electric guitar

PRS is a leading manufacturer of high-end electric guitars. Ted Nugent was the first big-name guitar player that Smith convinced to use his guitars.

Rickenbacker

In 1960, a guy named John Lennon bought a Rickenbacker while in Hamburg with a little band he was in called The Beatles. From then on, all of The Beatles used them on and off throughout their careers. Enough said.

Fender

Designed the first commercially successful solid-body electric guitar with a single magnetic pickup. It was called the Esquire.

Gibson

Maker of the Les Paul guitar. Pretty much every Rock N Roll gitar player of the last 50 years has played a Gibson at one time or another.

Learning to play the guitar, which ever kind you choose, is going  to be a great creative release for you. I'm of the belief that we all have a little bit of it in us. So if you want to take that next step, at the very least, signup for this Jamorama guy's free course and see where it might take you.
